CATARMAN, Northern Samar, May 21 (PIA) — The University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) Catarman, Northern Samar will host an international conference on migration and cultural adaptation for several state colleges and universities on May 23-25 at the Farmers Training Center at UEP.

Romula Obleopas, UEP publication and media officer, said the three-day activity will cover research and lecture presentation on multicultural realities in Korea and the Philippines stemming from marriage and worker migration, intended to enrich teaching strategies, research and other service functions of higher education institutions. 

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 27 (PIA) – In less than 24-hour after President Benigno C. Aquino III arrived from ASEAN Summit in Brunei, the President visited Catarman, Northern Samar to meet the local leaders and the community.

Speaking before yellow fully clad Nortehanons, the President warned the community of cunning politicians who threatens Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries to be delisted if not voted coming May 2013 elections.

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 18  – The province of Northern Samar is set to participate in the inception workshop on Child-Centered –Community Based Climate Change Adaptation (CC-CBA) level indicators on April 18 at Mabini Social Hall, Malacanang Palace in Manila City.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator of Northern Samar Engr. Romeo M. Cardenas who will represent the Provincial Government in the activity said the inception workshop will be conducted to support the outcome 3 of the CC – CBA project particularly to strengthen evidence base for child centered climate adaptation by influencing policy and practice at the local level. 

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 17 – Civil society organizations and government agencies initiated a Day of Prayer through recollection and peace covenant signing among provincial level candidates on April 15 at St. Claire Monastery, Mondragon, Northern Samar.

Among these organizations and agencies are the Diocese of Catarman, NAMFREL, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), COMELEC, PNP, AFP, PIA and Northern Samar Peace and Development Forum (NSPDF). 

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 13 — Nine violators of election gun ban were apprehended and detained by Northern Samar Philippine National Police as reported by the Provincial Director Police Senior Superintendent Isaias Tonog covering the period January 13 to March 4.

According to the report, nine firearms were confiscated and 15 ammunitions were seized by police operatives in separate operations under manhunt Charlie, by the mobile patrol, police response, and intelligence network operating all over the province.
