Northern Samar population reaches 632,379

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, – The Province of Northern Samar population growth increased to 632,379 as of 2015 census of population. This was revealed by PSA Population Officer Julian Gallano during the PIA’s Huruhimangraw sa Panginudto radio program at DYSM.
Gallano said the population count is higher by 1.07% compared with the 2010 census of 589,013. It is also 26.31% higher than the province’s population of 500,639 in CY 2000.
The province’s top ten most populated municipalities are Catarman with the most number of population at 94,037; followed by Laoang with 61,359; Mondragon, 38,726; Las Navas, 37,947; Palapag with 34,238; Pambujan, 33,062; Catubig, 33,025; San Roque, 30,580; Lavezares, 28,770; and San Isidro with 26,650.
The top 10 least populated municipalities are San Vicente, 7,856; San Antonio, 9,058; Rosario,10,520; Biri,11,767; Capul,12,679; Lapinig,13,020; Mapanas,14,025; Lope de Vega,14,687; Victoria,14,817; and Silvino Lobos with 15,299.
The four municipalities in the middle are Allen with 25,469; Bobon with 23,668; Gamay with 23,511 and San Jose with17,561.
52.4% of the total population are of voting age, and the young dependents comprised 33.5% while the old dependents posted a share of 5.7% and the working age population 15 to 64 years accounted for the remaining 60.9%. (tbc-pia8northsamar)
