CATARMAN, Northern Samar, — Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Jesus Dureza and the Peace Buzz, visited the province of Northern Samar on September 25, 2017 as it traverses its destination in Samar province for its Eastern Visayas Leg.
The Peace Buzz, an actual bus travelling around the country from Baquio City to Iligan City, aims at raising the hype and awareness on peace, calling for unity among stakeholders.
As the lead office, Secretary Jesus Dureza, with some OPAPP undersecretary and assistant secretaries, arrived in Catarman in time while the Peace Buzz was crossing the San Bernardino Strait via Allen. The Peace Buzz roamed around the Capital town in a motorcade with the local bikers, Kabalikat Civicom and other participating sectors and agencies.
Secretary Dureza, was the special guest during the flag ceremony at the Provincial Capitol. Dureza delivered a peace message to the provincial government employees and served as witness of the pledge of Peace. The secretary met the media in a press conference to clear some issues on peace initiatives.
Secretary Dureza and party were received by the provincial officials headed by Gov. Jose L. Ong, Jr.. They party conducted an ocular inspection and aerial monitoring of PAMANA projects in Northern Samar, then proceed to Catbalogan where the Secretary will grace the core activities.
Meanwhile, the Peace Buzz proceeded to Catbalogan to conduct the core activities on the Samar Island Action Network (SWAN) Congress and the Youth Peace Conversation.
The on-going activities are in line with the long month observance of National Peace Consciousness Month under Proclamation No. 675, Series of 2004, done every month of September, led by OPAPP PAMANA Area Management Team-Eastern Visayas Coordinator Ms. Maricel Bantilo with the PAMANA Provincial Management Team and the Provincial Government of Northern Samar.
