CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 26 — A halfway village named Kauswagan Village for former rebels will soon rise at Mondragon, Northern Samar.

This was discussed during the joint Provincial Task Force Balik Loob, E-CLIP, and Local Social Integration Program council meeting on April 22, 2020, presided by its Chair, Governor Edwin Ongchuan.

The Kauswagan Village is located at Brgy. Cablangan, Mondragon, Northern Samar with a total land area of 17,8591 hectares donated by PhilFIDA to the Provincial Government of Northern Samar.

The total project area is 148, 591 square meters allocated as dwelling units for as many as 308 FRs and 30 displaced informal settlers.

There is also an identified area for community facilities like a school, covered court, health, daycare center, talipapa, tricycle terminal, MRF, demo farm, road right of way, open space, and space for agricultural purposes.

In the presence of National Housing Authority Regional Manager Engr. Constancio Antiniero, it is said that NHA shall provide and download the funds for the project in the amount of P15,750,000.00 equivalent to the initial thirty-five housing units.
According to NHA, the 35 initial housing units to be constructed are single detached with a modal lot size of 100 square meters and a floor area of 35 square meters with an estimated cost per house of P450,000.00.

For the update, the DENR is currently conducting the relocation survey and continue to do the topographic and subdivision survey in the succeeding month or so while the titling of the land to the Provincial Government of Northern Samar is in process. (nbq/ADiaz/PIA-N. Samar)
