The Municipalities of Allen, San Jose and Biri made it to the Top 10 ranking of the Most Improved LGUs nationwide in the 2021 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
LGU Allen bested all other Class 5 to 6 Municipalities nationwide ranking 1st in the Most Competitive: Government Efficiency Category.
For Most Improved LGU, also among Class 5 to 6 Municipalities, LGU San Jose was recognized as Top 2, while LGU Biri landed 9th under the same category.
Together with the 3 MLGUs in Northern Samar, 8 other LGUs from Eastern Visayas made it to the Top 10 list.
The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) measures the competitiveness of LGUs based on the sum of their scores in 4 indicators namely Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure and Resiliency. CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the DTI, with the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs).
This year’s CMCI ranking were released during the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit on December 14, 2021 via FB Livestreaming.
The Provincial Government extends its congratulations to LGUs Allen, San Jose and Biri for this national recognition, an affirmation to the able leadership of these municipalities, complementary to the good governance strategies of the present provincial leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan.
