Catarman, Northern Samar – The Provincial Government of Northern Samar commended the Allen Municipal Officials, Employees and Communities Multipurpose Cooperative, or AMOEC MPC, for adding more modernized public utility jeepneys (MPUJs) on the Calbayog-Allen-Catarman Route, vice versa, a move expected to provide more convenience to the Nortehanon commuters.
During the Grand Launching of the additional 17 MPUJs on February 12, 2022, at the Freedom Park, this town, Governor Edwin Ongchuan, as represented by San Jose Mayor Clarence Dato, offered his “warmest congratulations to the Allen Municipal Officials, Employees and Communities Multipurpose Cooperative or AMOEC MPC for continuously bringing the Province of Northern Samar closer to its goal of a 100% implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.”
These additional units bring AMOEC’s total of operational modern units to 62. Last December 2020, AMOEC was the first transport cooperative to introduce MPUJs in Northern Samar when the launched their first 45 units. In 2021, CARACALAN JEVODTA followed suit for the Catarman-Rawis-Catubig-Las Navas Route, V.V., with LOTRACO (Lope De Vega-Catarman Route, V.V.) also phasing out the old jeepneys in the same year.
“This initiative from AMOEC MPC is of great help to the province and will surely contribute to realizing our vision of a Marig-on, Mainuswagon ngan Malipayon nga Kinabuhi para sa Ngatanan nga Nortehanon,” Governor Ongchuan said in his prepared message. He also thanked AMOEC for giving free rides to capitol employees during the early months of 2021.
Also present during the grand launching were officials from RD Gualberto N. Gualberto of LTFRB Regional Office 8; Mayor Joey Suan of Allen; Vice Mayor Clarissa ‘Boots’ Bonsol of Catarman; Mr. Cipriano Gardoque, Chairman of the AMOEC Board of Directors; Mr. Aaldwin Abing, General Manager of HINO Leyte, Inc.; and other stakeholders.
