Earlier today, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, through the Provincial Health Office and Northern Samar Provincial Hospital, together with the Department of Health, launched Resbakuna Kids at McDonald’s Catarman.

This activity aims to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 years old. From a total of 300 kids who pre-registered for the said vaccination drive, 150 children, accompanied by their parents and guardians, were accommodated in the morning and another 150 in the afternoon. The vaccine brand available for this age group is Pfizer, as recommended by DOH.

“Kids aged 5 to 11 years old are not immune to COVID-19. In fact, a number of COVID cases in the province are children in this age group. They are less vulnerable to the virus but they can still be infected and in turn, become carriers of the virus to more vulnerable family members.” Dr. Ninfa Kam, Provincial Health Officer, said in an interview.

Catarman RHU will also launch a vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 years old on Friday, February 25. Other municipalities are yet to announce their schedules.

Meanwhile, vaccination for Nortehanons above 11 years old is still ongoing. Please refer to your local RHUs for vaccination schedules.
