This vibrant festival, held in celebration of the Municipality of San Roque’s 63rd Founding Anniversary, showcases the rich ceremonial and rice planting tradition of the people of San Roque.
Visitors and observers traveled from near and far to take part in this yearly celebration. Street dancing and presentations using various costumes and accessories, including life-size carabaos and scarecrows, added delight to both residents and visitors.
From the word “Parayan” or rice harvest, the festival depicts the rice cycle ritual, inspired by the movement of rice stalks as they sway in the wind, and portrays the traditional way of planting and harvesting rice.
