CATARMAN, Northern Samar – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) approved the strategic response plan on Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the council first quarter meeting at PDRRMO Conference Area, Provincial Capitol, Catarman on Feb. 19.
Vice Governor Gary M. Lavin, the presiding officer, said the response plan enjoins all component local government units to effectively intensify information education campaign against Corona Virus and implements programs and services that will promote the health and well-being of every Nortehanon.
He said the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) of the 569 barangays in the province will be activated at the soonest possible time to help manage corona virus suspects and their contacts.
The vice governor continued that BHERTs will serve as the eyes and ears of the government as they are the first responder during emergencies in the community.
BHERTs will also conduct house to house visitation particularly arriving individual from country affected by the disease, he added.
All 24 mayors shall assume and perform as anti-corona virus managers and asked to observe protocol relative to the safety measures as well as prevention and control, he concluded.
On the other hand, Dr. Rommel Francisco in his briefing on Corona Virus during the council meeting reiterated the prevention and control measure and warned not to panic, rather listen and learn from legitimate information.
He informed that a coordination meeting with CAAP Manager in Catarman was conducted to ensure precautionary measures are observed at the airport. (nbq/TBC/pia8-northernsamar)
