CATARMAN, Northern Samar — The Provincial Government of Northern Samar through the leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, initiated “Kausawagan Caravan,” a project aimed to bring government programs and services closer to the constituents.
The second “Kauswagan Caravan,” was held on Thursday, February 27 in Brgy. Curry, Lope de Vega catering all neighboring interior barangays of the said municipality.
“I am overwhelmed with the support expressed and shown by various agencies not only of the provincial offices but of all national government agencies with frontline services who selflessly and voluntarily joined us in this endeavor,” said Governor Edwin Ongchuan.
The services provided by the provincial government include medical and dental services by the Provincial Health Office, job hiring and public employment initiatives by the Northern Samar Public Employment Service Office, distribution of seedlings and farm implements by the Provincial Agriculture Office, and the Rural Health Units which provided free vaccines and circumcision.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Legal Office rendered free legal services while the Provincial Population Office desk provided responsible parenthood and family planning information system. The Provincial Veterinary Office provided anti-rabies vaccine, campaigns against African Swine Fever and rabies, while the Provincial Social Welfare and Development office established listing for various financial assistance provided for the indigents, among others.
Other provincial offices were represented providing consultations and services anchored on their mandates.
From the national government agencies, the caravan was joined in by the Philippine Army which ensured security and conducted advocacy for peace in the locality while the PNP crime prevention measures were put in place also attaching social concern by providing slippers to the farmers. Moreoever, TESDA offered a three-year diploma programs while the PCA conducted registration of farmers, distributed fertilizers and seedlings as well as incentives.
Government services were also provided by the PCIC through its free insurance for farmers and financial assistance, DAR distributed land titles, while PhilHealth conducted registration for senior citizens and indigents.
Other NGAs which offered services include PSA, DENR, NFA, DTI, BFAR, DepEd, LTO, DPWH, DSWD-National, DILG, and PIA.
Lope de Vega Mayor Ana Palloc with her constituents from the recipient barangays of Curry, San Miguel, General Luna, Roxas, Gebonawan, Paguite and Somoroy, expressed gratitude to all the agencies that provided and offered services and to Governor Ong for initiating the said activity especially for the poor and the underprivileged.
