CATARMAN, Northern Samar — A total of 16 Rain Water Collection System will be installed by the Department of Public Works and Highways – Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSSDEO) in different schools, Rural Health Unit and public market within their area of jurisdiction as informed by DPWH-NSSDEO information office.
“The project is a rainwater collector or a small water utility collector which will supply school population it intends to cover. It is a consumptive water supply that promotes water conservation method, a rain water supply system,” District Engineer Ferdinand Briones said.
Ms. Ma. Luisa Adora of the Information Office said that area beneficiaries were identified through a 5-day survey and geotagging as instructed by Asst. District Engineer Charlito S. Carlobos.
District Engineer Briones added that the selection of recipient was based on areas with limited or no source of water or schools with no existing water supply as provided by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
The project is in compliance with the Republic Act 6716, “An Act Providing for The Construction of Water Wells Rainwater Collectors, Development of Springs and Rehabilitation of Existing Water Wells in all Barangays and Schools in the Philippines.” (nbq/ldl/and/PIA-N. Samar)
